Career Objective To further my career as a broadcast meteorologist in a newsroom and environment that continues to present challenges. Experience Evening/Chief Meteorologist, Forecasted, produced and anchored weather segment during news shows (September 2009 – Current) Morning and Noon Meteorologist, Forecasted, produced and anchored weather segment during news shows (August 2008 – September 2009) NOCO 5 Morning Weather Show, Produced and hosted Morning weather show for sister station (NOCO 5) in Northern Colorado. (August 2009 - September 2009) Experienced Storm Chaser, Chased severe storms for live coverage and video of tornados while working for KGWN using live radar and weather data (August 2008- Current) - Storm Chased for a tornado research team, (June 2008) 24/7 Weather Intern, KMGH Channel 7, Denver (August 2007- May 2008) Achievements • Awarded the American Meteorological Society CBM Seal in March of 2011. • Won Wyoming Association of Broadcasters Best Meteorologist/Weather personality in June of 2010. Skills/Abilities • Have the knowledge and ability to make accurate forecast based off of model output and current analysis. • Have the skill and ability to forecast and cover severe weather events. • Can report live on scene to cover weather stories and events. • Have a great understanding of Weather Central’s Live, 3d Live and Genesis. - Was given the title of “Graphics Expert” with development of new system for KGWN. • Ability to update the station’s website and station’s social networking pages quickly and efficiently, especially during severe weather. • Have basic editing skills with Final Cut Pro and Sony Vegas. • Have the knowledge and ability to chase severe thunderstorms Education Bachelor of Science, Earth Science: Meteorology Received: May, 2008 University of Northern Colorado, Greeley • Major: Meteorology Related course work: Dynamic Meteorology I & II, Physical Meteorology, Satellite Meteorology, Synoptic Meteorology, Mesoscale Meteorology, Weather Analysis & Forecasting, Climatology, Biometeorology, and KMGH Channel 7 Denver internship. |
